Kilimanjaro National Park (Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Kilimanjaro, in Swahili) is a national park in Tanzania located about 300 kilometers (190 miles) south of the equator in the Kilimanjaro Region, near Moshi. The park includes the entire area of Mount Kilimanjaro above the tree line and the surrounding forest area above 1,820 meters (5,970 feet). It covers an area of 1,688 square kilometers (652 square miles) and is located between 2°50’–3°10’S and 37°10’–37°40’E.

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a collection of Hindu and Digambara Jain temples located in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, India. These monuments are approximately 46 kilometers (28.6 miles) from Chhatarpur city, the district’s main office, 283 kilometers (177 miles) from Gwalior, 175 kilometers (109 miles) southeast of Jhansi, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from Khajwa, and 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) from Rajnagar. The temples are known for their Nagara-style architecture and for having some sculptures that show scenes of love and relationships.

The Great Rift Valley is a system of low areas inside a continent that stretches from north to south through Kenya. It is part of the Gregory Rift, the eastern part of the East African Rift, which begins in Tanzania to the south and extends north into Ethiopia. It was formed on the “Kenyan Dome,” a bulge in the Earth’s surface caused by the movement of three major tectonic plates: the Arabian, Nubian, and Somali plates.

Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is located in the Golaghat, Sonitpur, Biswanath, and Nagaon districts of Assam, India. The park is home to two-thirds of the world’s Indian rhinoceroses and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A census in March 2018, conducted by the Forest Department of Assam and wildlife organizations, found that there are 2,613 rhinos in the park.

Kasubi Tombs

The Kasubi Tombs in Kampala, Uganda, is the burial site for four kabakas (kings of Buganda) and other members of the Baganda royal family. Because of this, the site is an important spiritual and political place for the Ganda people and an example of traditional architecture. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 2001, when it was described as “one of the most remarkable buildings using purely vegetal materials in the entire region of sub-Saharan Africa.” Some of the major buildings there were almost completely destroyed by a fire in March 2010.

Kakadu National Park is a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia, 171 km (106 mi) southeast of Darwin. It is a World Heritage Site. Kakadu is also officially named as a locality, covering the same area as the national park, with 313 people recorded living there in the 2016 Australian census.

The Kahuzi-Biega National Park (Swahili: Hifadhi ya Taifa ya Kahuzi-Biega, French: Parc national de Kahuzi-Biega) is a protected area located near Bukavu town in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is found close to the west side of Lake Kivu and near the border with Rwanda.
