Film Review: Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman
Before I begin my thoughts I have to admit that I’m a fan of DC. Batman was the first super hero that I could identify with. A hero who’s contingently plans had contingently plans. Meaning that it was his mind that was his power. I read the comics, grew up watching the Batman Animated Series. From there I fell in love with Teen Titans and then started reading the Gotham City Sirens series, watching Justice League, Green Lantern and Warner Brothers Animations’ Wonder Woman then reading Watchmen. As you can see DC has been a part of my life for a long time.
So what are my thoughts on the DC Cinematic Universe? Well as of today I think it’s doing well. Man of Steel was a good movie well worth the time. I enjoyed Batman Vs Superman. I know I’m in the minority for liking Batman Vs Superman. I’ll admit it had its problems. I think that if time and money were no issue Batman Vs Superman should have been an extra 2 hours bringing the run time up to 4 hours. With an intermission of course. With that two hours I believe that they should have added more characters. Zack Snyder is great with large casts, just look at watchmen. Then payed more attention to the lives of Batman, Wonder Woman, and gave more time to Cyborg, Aqua-man and the Flash. I kind of felt like the trailers miss represented their presents in the final film.
Yes, the DC Cinematic Universe has had its faults. Suicide Squad felt like a movie that went through production hell, and it showed. The confusion with Ben Affleck and directing the batman movie is something to worry about in the future. However, the Future of DC films is a lot brighter now.
I enjoyed Wonder Woman immensely. I’m not going to talk plot like I usually do. Some of the things I noticed while watching this film was the pacing. This movie need to go into the museum of film, because it’s pacing was perfect. From beginning to end the film felt fun, adventures and a little mysterious. Most importantly it kept you on the edge of your seat. With every moment I want to spend more time in this universe. That desire starts off almost instantly within the beginning of the film. The desire continues through the film as you see the world very much from Wonder Woman’s perspective.
So I feel really good about DC. Their definitely on an upswing. I’ve been a little drained with comic films but I’m really looking forward to Justice League and more. This film gives me hope for the DC Universe.
