The Landscapes of Dauria is a World Heritage Site shared by Russia and Mongolia. It is part of the Daurian forest steppe ecoregion, which also extends into northeastern China. This area is part of the Dauria International Protected Area and includes the Torey Lakes.

Component sites

  • The forest steppe is located within the Daursky State Nature Biosphere Reserve (SNBR) in Russia. The reserve covers 300 hectares (740 acres), and there is a buffer zone of 3,958 hectares (9,780 acres) around it.
  • The Daursky SNBR and Valley of Dzeren Nature Refuge in Russia cover 278,723 hectares (688,740 acres). The area has a buffer zone of 124,930 hectares (308,700 acres). Dzeren is the Russian name for the Mongolian gazelle.
  • The Mongol Daguur Biosphere Reserve (also called the Mongol Daguur Specially Protected Nature Area, SPNA) in Mongolia covers 580,080 hectares (1,433,400 acres). The reserve has a buffer zone of 178,429 hectares (440,910 acres).
  • The Chuh-Nuur Lake cluster in Mongolia covers 7,361 hectares (18,190 acres).
  • The Ugtam Nature Refuge in Mongolia covers 46,160 hectares (114,100 acres).
